I saw this Vespa in Sainsbury's yesterday. It took me back 20 years when I had a similar scooter – almost identical model in cream colour. It also reminded me that a lot of my friends had a similar Vespa/Bajaj, which was the main mode of conveyance in our college days. I still remember the registration number of mine – RSZ 7701. I request you – if you come across this blog, to leave the registration number and colour of your scooty please…

I have a scooter
A scooter so nifty
Piaggio Vespa PX 150
I start it up and then I ride
I go to Roberta’s and I wait outside
She heard me coming and she gets excited
She rushes out to me because she knows she’s invited
She greets me with a kiss and then she gets on the back
She wraps her arms around me and straps her shoes to the rack
And when we go the engine goes putt putt putt
Fast and slow the engine goes putt putt putt
Worry is no worry when I am on my Vespa
Life is no hurry when I am on my Vespa
No matter where I am going I look forward to going
The Vespa is speeding, but my years are slowing
I am a young man and I will be young forever

VESPA - The WASP - (Latino/Italiano) - The scooter with 2 antennae that looks & sounds like a Wasp !!
Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the Celular, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://telefone-celular-brasil.blogspot.com. A hug.
Vish,
Great memories!
Though the only scooter I had was a lambretta- Blue and white (Hope it is ok to comment nevertheless).
Not as peppy as the Vespa, but was very steady as its weight was evenly distributed on both sides. (Vespa had an engine on one side only, if I remember correctly)
Also, remember how it would help to tilt the scooter to one side before kick starting it! Wonder what that was all about. There used to be a joke about that then- sardarji something- can't remember now.
In the end, a strange thing happened to my Lambretta. After so many years of miss-use (ha-ha. Get it?Get it?) it used to go up to 60 kmph in first gear with a great deal of engine noise, would maintain the same speed on second gear, and start deaccelerating in third and in fourth gear would sputter and give a series of jerks and come to a stop. Very puzzling, indeed. They said that it was something to do with the clutch. And the gas consumption was astronomical- even at a tenth of the price today.
Finally I could'nt stand the jokes my friends made about it- the least benign being why I should sell the thing, put in some money and buy a second- hand used bicycle instead- and had to junk the Lambretta.
Miss it though- would love to start it up and go for a ride right now.
Remember white colour bajaj 150 with registration no. RSM 6018. It used to ditch me only nobody else.
