Blood Diamond

A gory tale of how the diamonds from Africa travel to Tiffany's, De Beers and other stores in Europe and US. They change several hands, take a few lives before adorning the fingers in the developed world.

A well told story – built on harsh realities (by no means a real story). Leonardo DiCaprio has acted brilliantly – He was nominated for the Best Actor Academy award for this movie. Worth watching.

Thanks for letting me know. I think I am going to give Blood Diamond a miss.

I saw two good movies this past week...Kingdom of Heaven (Director's cut) and Indochine (French)- both on the Netflix subsciption.

If you indulge in more than the thrillers genre then I recommend these two- the first is based in the 1100s and is a tale of a soldier in the back ground of the Muslim/ Christian wars over Jerusalem- a little gory, but great shooting (And let me know if you think it should be classified as a thriller= if you do watch it)

The second is a story of a rubber plantation owning french woman in Indochine (Now Vietnam?) who adopts a local girl- a princess. The story telling and photography is great- and set in the back ground of the Independence of the Country from France half a century ago. Recommend you watch it with the wife.

Strange how many great stories have backgrounds set in times of turmoil in history.

You got me wrong. Blood Diamond is amazing - but it's not a Godfather I would like to keep and watch it again when I retire. But then, maybe..

it's a briiliant film...must watch

Hi,

Took your advice and saw the movie. Loved it!

Somehow, want to own diamonds even more, but will try to ensure that they are "conflict free".

Thanks for pointing me towards this...
