Om Shanti Om

A wicked spoof on 70's Bollywood. To fully appreciate, you should have seen Bollywood movies of the 70's or you will not catch the satire. It has every possible masala you can imagine in a movie - romance, song & dance, reincarnation, action, comedy...

Shah Rukh Khan
has done an amazing job. So has the newcomer Deepika.

Hat's off - making a spoof is easy, but to make it the biggest earner for Bollywood (of all times) is another thing.

Can I see it again? Of course, I WILL see it again...

wow... have already watched this movie twice on the big screen. Very beautifully done... specially the 70s part. Deepika Padukone did not have much of a role but pulled it off well. SRK was awesome!!! The way the support teams were introduced at the end is very innovative!

I am really sorry!!!!! but I thought that the movie was A WASTE OF TIME...and everything else......Infact I saw just 3/4 th of it before it became intolerable....It was a rape of my sensibilities!!!!
the ironical part of it was that even tho we have grown up on the 70's movies....Yes we are the Sholay and Deewar and ofcourse the KARZ Genaration...the movie did not evoke a sense of Deja Vu let alone...stir you up.
It was everywhich way...obscene and as u wud call it in Hindi...a "Bhadda Mazak' on the viewers sensibilities.
Yes it is the biggest earner (of all times...Disputable!!) but that is everything that has a Shah Rukh Khan stamp on it-Disputable...I mean it is so..very ironical that a person who has been thrust so much achievement on him (by the non thinking Indian public (read the uneducated masses in India...in the interiors...there are about 90 Crores of them!!!)..is so stupid even now!!!!!!!! but that is what stardom is all about...
And yes the movie is a hit coz..the Jantaa wants to see it...and in hordes...
In a nutshell....The movie is outrightly crass and has no class...(and the saddest part is that the movie belongs to a person-SRK- who has all the pretensions of 'Class')...

Absolutely loved the first half...especially the South Indian hero imitation (Remember the Masala Dosa and whisky ads in India- 1990s?). The Manoj Kumar imitation was also great. Who was the new guy- Shah Rukh Khan (v1) sidekick? I thought he was a natural. Great acting! To sum it up, the first half was great.

The second half, that's another story. I really should have turned off the movie- except that I can never do that, once I start watching one, I have to complete it until I am done- no matter how boring the movie (What torture!). There should be a medical name for this malady (boringmoviewatchingitis?)

Did you notice Deepika's arms? Sooooo lonng. And her hands...BIG and looong. (Inherited from her Dad Prakash who probably became Badminton Champion because of this very trait-his looong and stroong hands) Seriously, check out her hands next time you see her...enormous. Anyway, she is only 15 or so, I understand, so maybe everything will fall into place as she grows.

Also, how about a different ending...my 2c- Deepika should have been a ghost all along in Shah Rukh Khan (v2). Right from the time that she came in to screen test, that is. Would have saved the prickly question of a Soul being alive in one form and also (simultaneously) being a ghost aka when the bad guy was killed.

Will see the first half again given a chance.

I am not a major SRK fan but we should give it him where he deserves. I sincerely think he deserves all the credit for this movie. It was brilliant.
